Naturally, I came to the conclusion of Mass Manipulation so this deck can easily just shift into being a Simic Yoink deck with a ton of hydras. ConclusionĪfter ending 3-2, I think the deck can definitely focus on a little more ramp and ways to use all of our excess mana. As weird as it seems, most of matches can be pretty swingy, but if we're able to get Vivien, Champion of the Wilds early, we can easily win some games out of nowhere. One of the best ways is to drop a Voracious Hydra where X=2 just so we can turn it into a 4/5 and gum up the board that way. Because of our lack of cheap interaction, don't be afraid to drop either of our X costing Hydras for low numbers. I also imagine decks that go super wide will be a problem as we don't have any sweepers. If those things get countered or removed, it'll be hard to ever get in the game. I have to imagine with how slow our deck is, any deck that is loaded with counterspells and a ton of removal will be a problem as we play one big beater every turn. In this deck, her passive just allows us to go wild with massive hydras so the fun never ends! Matchups ![]() Vivien even helps us find more fun creatures outside of the game! At this point in standard, I don't think Nissa needs any explanation. Vivien turns our hydras into bigger bodies that also have trample. Vivien, Arkbow Ranger is an absolute beating if left unchecked as Vivien does it all. Just being able to flash creatures means that we can get people with a surprise hydra! Tamiyo will help us buy back a few of our fallen hydra allies while also shutting down Doom Foretold decks. Unfortunately, it does get blanked by a Teferi, Time Raveler but it can potentially come down on turn two with a Gilded Goose and really generate a ton of value. My favorite walker out of all of these is Vivien, Champion of the Wilds as this card was one I was pretty hyped for with #MTGWAR's release. Kiora is really just here to help us potentially get additional mana and potentially draw us a card. As you can figure, the whole addition of planeswalkers is to see if we can get a massive Bioessence Hydra. Gargos makes all of our hydras with X in their casting costs start at 4 and that's amazing. ![]() ![]() Gargos, Vicious Watcher is such a cool card with crazy stats. The deck however is a midrange deck and is also loaded with planeswalkers. This deck will speak to all of the inner timmies as we can jam big threats. Thanks Lavaspik3 for bringing up the deck during my stream! Deck is all about jamming a bunch of big Hydras and who doesn't love that? ![]()
